Just outside Målerås you will find the Gråstensmon hiking trail. Gråstensmon has one of the most well-known examples of stagnation moraine in South Sweden. Here is one of the country’s most interesting geological formations as a result of the inland ice melting. The area also has one of the most valuable wetlands in Kalmar county, with large transition mires, quaking bogs and an interesting flora. At the end of June, the Early Marsh Orchid and other flowers are in full bloom.
People have lived and worked in Gråstensmon for ages. There are archeological remains of dwelling-houses and barns along the footpath. An old dam indicates that a mill once stood here.
- The path starts and ends at Långegöl's bathing area.
- At the bathing area there is parking, a barbecue area, a jetty, a changing room and a wind shelter (200 m away).
- Approximately 75 meters of the path runs close to road 31, but with a safe distance from traffic.
- During wet periods, boots are recommended.
- The path is about 7 km (4½ miles) and is considered medium difficulty.

Just outside Målerås you will find the 2 km long trail around Målerå's lake Långegöl. You walk through a varied landscape of forest and bog but constantly in close contact with the small lake Långegöl. There are several wooden sculptures of trolls that you can discover along the way. The trail goes over small bridges and branches past carnivorous plants (Drosera rotundifolia). You also pass a hill with a beautiful view of the lake. When you have passed over the rafters at the lower and narrow part of the lake, you will find a wind shelter on the right side. There is also a barbecue area. A place for a short break with a view of lake Långegöl.
